How can Orthopedic Therapy help my neck pain?
Orthopedic physical therapy is a branch of physical therapy focused on rehabilitating conditions related to the musculoskeletal system including muscles, bones, tendons, joint, and ligaments. An orthopedic injury can cause pain, swelling, and functional limitations. Whether your injury is related to an accident, arthritis, a sporting activity, or is post-surgical, we provide a thorough physical examination to help you get back to the activities you love. This exam will look at your posture, strength, and range of motion, as well as provide a thorough movement analysis. This movement analysis looks at how you walk, sit, squat, reach, and much more. In this examination we are able to find the source of your pain and develop a treatment plan to getting you better.
Inspire Physical Therapy and Wellness employs a Board Certified Orthopedic Clinical Specialist (OCS) who uses a variety of tools to improve clinical outcomes including: manual therapy, soft tissue mobilization, Graston Technique, Kinesiotaping, therapeutic exercise, functional training, Dynamic Neuromuscular Stabilization (DNS), and Pilates-based rehabilitation.

How many sessions will it take before I get relief?
The number of session required will depend on the chronicity and severity of your condition. A typical course of orthopedic therapy treating neck pain will usually run for 5-8 sessions with a patient coming in 1x/week for treatment. Some patients may require less therapy and some may require more. After your initial evaluation, you and your therapist will discuss a treatment plan which will include frequency and the anticipated number of visits.
What should I expect during my Session?
An email link will be provided to complete all the necessary forms prior to your first physical therapy session. Your initial physical therapy evaluation will take one-hour. We will be looking at your posture, strength, and range of motion, as well as provide a thorough movement analysis as to help determine the source of your pain. This movement analysis looks at how you walk, sit, squat, reach, and much more. You will be given a hands-on treatment to address the #1 thing contributing to your pain as well as a home exercise program to support your treatment. Together, you and your therapist will discuss the findings and develop a treatment plan centered around YOU and your goals!
Will it hurt?
A physical therapy evaluation seeks to find the source of your pain. In order to find the source of your pain, your pain may be mildly provoked as to confirm it's origin. A residual soreness for 1-2 days after an examination is common however may not occur. It all depends on the severity of your condition. You will be given management strategies and exercises to counteract this soreness as well as to heal your injury.
What should I wear to my session?
Please come dressed in comfortable clothing allowing for easy viewing of the injured area. For instance, if we are evaluating your knee, please come with a pair of shorts. If we will be examining your shoulder or neck, ladies please come with a sports bra or a camisole to allow exposure of the area.
